Institution

SRH Haarlem University of Applied Sciences is a small-scale, international university in the Amsterdam–Haarlem region. We combine academic rigor with applied learning, so students graduate with both knowledge and a portfolio of real projects. Our programmes—such as Business Psychology, Creative Media, and Digital Transformation Management—are taught in English and shaped with industry input to reflect how organisations work today.

Teaching follows our CORE principle (Competence-Oriented Research & Education): compact five-week modules, small classes, real client briefs, and continuous coaching. This rhythm keeps learning focused, practical, and motivating. You’ll iterate quickly, practice teamwork, present your work, and receive feedback that actually moves you forward.

Our campus sits in a creative and tech-forward environment with startups, scale-ups, and cultural organisations around the corner. You’ll meet guest mentors, work on live challenges, and build a network before you graduate.

What makes SRH Haarlem different? Personal attention, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a portfolio-first approach. We care about who you are becoming—professionally and personally. You’ll learn to think critically, collaborate across cultures, communicate with impact, and turn ideas into outcomes. If you’re looking for an intimate, international community that believes in learning by doing—and doing with purpose—you’ll feel at home here.

Information about the city, student leisure activities

Haarlem is a historic Dutch city with a village vibe—and Amsterdam just 15 minutes away by train. Cobbled streets, canal views, indie cafés, music venues, and one of the country’s best shopping districts make daily life feel cozy and creative. The North Sea beaches at Zandvoort and Bloemendaal are a quick bike ride for sunsets, surfing, and study breaks in the sand.

Cycling is the default: safe lanes everywhere, short distances, and a greener way to get around. Culture fans will love the Frans Hals Museum, local galleries, live jazz, film festivals, and pop-up events. Foodies get fresh markets on the Grote Markt, international cuisines, and plenty of student-friendly spots.

Student life is active and welcoming. Join clubs for sports, volunteering, startups, gaming, photography, film, and music—or start your own. Expect international friendships: our students come from many countries and backgrounds, bringing new ideas (and recipes) to the table. Weekends? Explore Amsterdam’s art and nightlife, hike the dunes, or take day trips across the Netherlands with affordable rail.

Haarlem balances calm and connection: small enough to feel at home quickly, big enough to keep you inspired. It’s a place to focus on your studies, build a network, and enjoy a healthy rhythm—work when it’s time to work, play when it’s time to play, and breathe in a city that’s easy to love.

Successful candidates receive an offer with instructions for enrolment, visa/residence (for non-EU/EEA students), and housing guidance. We’ll help you plan arrival, registrations, and your first weeks.

Intakes & timing
We typically offer September and February intakes. Application timelines, document requirements, and tuition details can vary by country, so always check the current information on our website and apply early for housing/visa processing.

Our goal is clarity and support at every step—so you can focus on choosing the path that fits your goals.

How We Teach: The CORE Model

Learning sticks when you practice, reflect, and iterate. That’s the idea behind CORE (Competence-Oriented Research & Education)—our signature model.

  • Five-week modules: Short, focused blocks keep momentum high. Each module has clear outcomes and a real-world brief.
  • Small classes & coaching: Instructors know your name and your work. You’ll receive feedback that’s timely and actionable.
  • Real client challenges: You’ll research, prototype, test, and present to partners—from startups to established organisations.
  • Evidence-based approach: You’ll learn methods (research, analytics, ethics) and use them to support your decisions.
  • Teamwork & communication: Every block builds collaboration, presentation, and stakeholder skills.
  • Portfolio-first: Each module ends with a tangible output—video, report, prototype, campaign, or analysis—that you can show to employers.

The result? You don’t just learn about business, media, or digital transformation—you do the work in a safe, coached environment, gaining the confidence to deliver under real conditions. By graduation, your portfolio tells a story: challenges faced, solutions created, and impact achieved. That’s what employers—and founders—care about.

Careers, Internships & Industry Connections

Your future starts while you study. We weave career development into every year so you graduate with skills, network, and direction.

  • Career coaching: Map strengths, explore roles, build a CV/portfolio, and practice interviews.
  • Work-ready skills: Agile teamwork, client communication, problem framing, evidence-based decisions.
  • Projects with partners: Tackle briefs from companies and nonprofits to solve real problems and meet potential employers.
  • Internships: Apply your skills in industry, collect references, and sharpen your career focus. We’ll guide you on search, applications, and paperwork.
  • Events & mentors: Guest lectures, panels, portfolio reviews, and meetups connect you to people who hire and build.
  • Entrepreneurship: Interested in your own venture? Get support to validate ideas, prototype, and pitch.

Typical outcomes include roles in HR/People & Culture, Organisational Development, Marketing & Content, Product/Project Management, Business Analysis, Data & Insights, and Consulting, or further Master’s study. Many students also launch freelance or startup projects during their degree.

Bottom line: by combining applied learning with industry exposure, we help you move from “student” to professional with proof—ready to contribute from day one.
